Taking place at Portishead Open Air Pool the event will see participants brave icy waters to raise much-needed funds for Bristol’s only adult hospice. With hot drinks, pizza, live music, hot tubs, a warm room and a raffle including exciting prizes from Dry Robe, the atmosphere promises to be electric, and spectators are also welcome to watch and cheer on the dippers.
Taking the plunge with cold water swimming means you could experience amazing health benefits including boosting mood and immune system and improving fitness and circulation.
Molly O’Donoghue, Events Fundraising Manager at St Peter’s Hospice, said: “Whether you’re a seasoned open-water swimmer or someone just looking for an exciting and refreshing challenge, our Cold Water Dip is the perfect chance to have some fun while raising money. Every splash will make a difference in supporting patients and their families facing life-limiting illnesses.
“Go for the Twilight wave at 4pm for an extra special challenge, as you take to the water while the sun sets and the lights start to twinkle.
“Many participants will choose to take part in memory of a loved one. We'll have our memory tree by the side of the pool and participants are invited to write and hang a message to commemorate loved ones.”
The event will take place from 2.30pm-5.30pm. Entry costs £20 per person and is open to over-16s.
St Peter’s Hospice cares for adults with incurable illnesses in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire as well as providing support for their families. All care is provided free of charge but the charity relies on gifts in wills, donations, fundraising and money raised through its retail shops to deliver its services.
