The main man of the iconic rock/hip hop group and beloved BBC 6 Music disc jockey is coming to Bristol this winter – backed by a full live band.

 

Huey Morgan will play O2 Academy Bristol on Saturday 23 November 2024.

 

‘The Fun Lovin’ Criminal’ wasn’t just the name of Huey’s amazing platinum 90s song, it is also who he is. After founding the band, writing and producing all their seminal hits, he’s now performing all his ‘life story hits’ with a brand-new band for the first time in 30 years. Born to Puerto Rican-American and Irish-American parents, Huey Morgan is a New Yorker through and through. He joined the marines at a young age before being honourably discharged and cutting his teeth as a DJ in NYC clubs, where he met future Fun Lovin’ Criminal, Brian ‘Fast’ Leiser.

 

In 1993, he formed the band with Leiser and Steve Borgovini. During Huey’s time with the band, Fun Lovin’ Criminals released six studio albums, scoring three Top 10 finishes in the UK Albums Chart and eight Top 40 hits in the UK Singles Charts. He left the band in 2021.

 

Away from the band, Huey as worked with such artists as Plan B and JetTricks and, in 2012, released his debut solo album, Say It to My Face. As well as making various guest appearances in film and TV, Morgan has hosted an acclaimed weekly radio show on BBC Radio 6 Music in addition to regular slots on BBC Radio 2.

 

As well as O2 Academy Bristol, Huey Morgan – ‘The Fun Lovin’ Criminal’ will drop by Scunthorpe’s Baths Hall, O2 Institute2 Birmingham, O2 Academy Bournemouth, London’s Dingwalls and O2 Academy2 Oxford.
