The Young Lions are currently positioned in second place in their qualification campaign and are aiming to clinch the top spot, standing them in good stead for next summer’s U21 EURO Finals in Slovakia, with adult prices for this game priced at just £15.
England U21s are the current holders of the competition, having beaten Spain 1-0 in the final last year, thanks to a goal from Liverpool star Curtis Jones. Managed by Lee Carsley (now interim manager of the men’s team), this team also included Premier League icons such as Cole Palmer, Anthony Gordon and Harvey Elliott.
The U21s visit may well be a homecoming for former Bristol City player Alex Scott. Signed from Guernsey in 2020, the midfielder soon became one of the Championship’s most coveted players, winning the league’s Young Player of the Season award. In 2023 he made a big money move to Premier League side Bournemouth.
This is not the first time The Young Lions have played at Ashton Gate with previous visits including a 1-1 draw with Poland in 2019 with Dominic Calvert-Lewin on the scoresheet and another 1-1 draw in 2007, this time with Romania. Matt Derbyshire scored that night before a Joe Hart own goal drew things level.
