Posted on: 19 Aug 2024

Limited tickets are now available for the undisputed godfather of modern stand-up, who is back on the road, touring his new show ‘Authentic Stupidity’.

Ben Elton will perform at Bristol Beacon’s Beacon Hall on Thursday 12 September 2024.

After exploding onto the scene back in the 80s as the host of Channel 4’s seminal Saturday Live show, Elton has set the standards for gag-filled taboo-busting ever since. ‘Authentic Stupidity’ follows the UK comedy pioneer’s sold-out UK tour of 2019 – his first in over 15 years.

An award-winning comedian, writer, playwright and lyricist, Ben Elton was brought up in South-East London before studying drama in Manchester. A product of the thriving alternative comedy scene of the 1980s, he penned such legendary series as The Young Ones, Blackadder and The Thin Blue Line.

Throughout the years, Elton has co-hosted the Nelson Mandela Celebration, hosted the Brit Awards and the Royal Variety Show – always using his own material. On top of acclaimed stand-up shows, Elton has lent his talents to theatrical productions including Silly Cow, We Will Rock You and more.

On his latest tour, Elton says: “Since my last live tour a whole new existential threat has emerged to threaten humanity! Apparently, Artificial Intelligence is going to destroy us all! Well, I reckon our real problem isn’t Artificial Intelligence it’s good old-fashioned Authentic Stupidity! Forget AI! It’s AS we need to be worrying about!”

Ben Elton’s ‘Authentic Stupidity’ tour will see him appear at venues in York, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Nottingham, Birmingham, Sheffield, Cambridge, Bristol, Leeds, Swindon, Cardiff, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Portsmouth, Belfast, Dublin, Liverpool, Leicester, Bath, Brighton, London and more.
