Let The People Sing! Applications are open to audition for Les Mis live in Bristol
Posted on: 16 Aug 2024In celebration of the 40th anniversary for the legendary musical, BLOC Productions are staging the amateur premiere of Les Misérables in Bristol’s largest theatre venue.
BLOC Productions’ Les Misérables runs at The Bristol Hippodrome from Wednesday 13 to Saturday 16 August 2025.
BLOC are one of eleven UK amateur companies staging productions of Les Misérables as part of the legendary show’s 40th birthday next year. As part of the nationwide collaborative community theatre project ‘Let The People Sing!’, budding theatre stars will be able to take part in open auditions for some of Les Mis’ most iconic roles!
Audition applications are open until the end of August 2024 – apply HERE.
There is plenty of opportunity for the public to be involved in this production with members of BLOC Productions, other clubs and talented amateur performers without previous experience being equally invited to apply and all parts double-cast – enabling as many people as possible to get involved.
The aim of this show is to truly let the people sing and there are so many roles available to the public. There will be nine adult principal roles, including iconic parts such as prisoner 24601 himself Jean Valjean, Inspector Javert, the tragic Fantine, and ‘Master Of The House’, Thénardier.
If that’s not enough, there will also be between 30 and 35 ensemble roles, six children’s roles (including Gavroche, Young Cosette and Young Éponine) and between 45 and 60 Static Chorus places – on-stage, but unseen until the show’s grand finale.
Les Misérables is a truly epic portrait of crime, punishment, exile, justice, redemption, love and despair set in 19th-century France. The story follows the life of Jean Valjean, an ex-convict who seeks redemption despite being hunted for decades by his rival and ex-guard Javert for breaking his parole.
BLOC Productions’ Les Misérables runs at The Bristol Hippodrome from Wednesday 13 to Saturday 16 August 2025 with audition applications open until the end of August 2024 – apply HERE.
