Dhamaka is a restaurant that do things a little differently from your average British curry house. Showcasing the street food of India, customers can expect flavours from every corner of the country, from the tangy snacks that flow across Indian streets to ‘Indo-Chinese’ delicacies.
The restaurant is the brainchild of the experienced Vinay Reddy who moved to Bristol to open Zaza Bazaar, before turning his attention to his own passion project. Vinay decided to launch an Indian restaurant with an emphasis on street food – something different to crowded fine-dining Indian restaurants and drowning curry houses.
To this end, Vinay sought the help of dear friend and ex-colleague Jyotirmoy Patra to fulfil this vision. Channelling his prestigious training, Jyotirmoy created a dynamic and popular menu that features such delicacies as Vegetable momos, Chettinad Chicken from Tamilnadu, Goan Fish Curry and plenty more – all without using nuts!
The restaurants nominated for this year’s ‘Best Restaurant in Bristol’ category at the British Restaurant Awards are Bulrush, Wilson’s, Sonny Stores, Bravas, The Lido, Cotto, Flow, Cor, The Saigon Kitchen, Snobby’s and Namak.
