This relaxed event will see Rovers legend Geoff Twentyman and City icon Gary Owers once more present their highly entertaining roadshow once again.

 

‘An Evening with Geoff Twentyman & Gary Owers’ hits Bedminster Down Ex-Service Club on Thursday 19 September 2024.

 

Get ready for in intriguing conversation from two heroes of Bristolian sport and radio broadcasting, alongside some very special guests. Geoff and Gary will be sharing tales from their playing days as well as their experiences in management, the modern game and their time behind the microphone on BBC Radio Bristol.

The son of former Liverpool star, also Geoff, Twentyman signed for Rovers in 1986, going on to make a total of 252 appearances and working under the late great Gerry Francis. Despite dabbling in coaching (Assistant Manager to Ian Holloway), Twentyman became best known as a presenter on BBC Radio Bristol – he retired in May 2023.

 

Born in Newcastle and making over 300 appearances for Sunderland, Gary Owers moved to City in 1994, making 130 appearances over four years. He has also had an extensive managerial career with local clubs including Bath City and Torquay United. He is also a regular feature of City’s games on BBC Radio.

 

Join Geoff and Gary for a relaxed evening jam packed with their extraordinary experiences and dearth of stories in a fun-filled atmosphere, all while digging into a pie and a pint. The duo will also be joined by local sporting stars, making this an evening not to be missed!

 

Speaking about the evnt, Geoff said: “It was Gary’s idea, and it should be a blast as we both have a tale or three to tell! I have known Gary for decades and am looking forward to having a good time.” Gary added, “I am looking forward to this, I’ve always had a bit of banter with Geoff, and it will be great to mingle with the fans.”
