The Glass Menagerie follows Tom, who escapes a suffocating home life by smoking cigarettes and long trips to the pictures while his sister, Laura withdraws into her collections of records and glass animals.

In the meantime, their mother, Amanda, harbours dreams for her children far beyond the reaches of their shabby apartment and – when Tom brings home a potential suitor for Laura – she seizes the opportunity to attempt to change their fortunes forever.

A partially autobiographical piece written by iconic American playwright Tennessee Williams (A Streetcar Named Desire), The Glass Menagerie is a poetic portrayal of a family on the brink of change. This intimate, intense memory play explores the complex web of love and loyalty that makes up a family.

This acclaimed production is directed by Atri Banerjee, an award-winning director who previously brought Into The Woods to Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Joining Geraldine Somerville as Amanda will be Kasper Hilton-Hille as Tom, Natalie Kimmerling as Laura and Zacchaeus Kayode as Jim O’Connor.
