Recently back with their most sophisticated, vital and flamboyant release to date as well as yet another raft of line-up changes, Fat White Family are back.

Fat White Family will play Bristol’s SWX on Saturday 8 June 2024.

The band’s resplendent fourth record, Forgiveness Is Yours, was unleashed upon the world last month and, as with each of their previous projects, its creation has pushed them to the limits of not just their only creative talent, but also their health, sanity and their very existence – hurry, tickets are moving fast!

From their very inception, Fat White Family have instinctively grasped the long-neglected myth of rock n roll. Emerging from a Peckham squat in 2011 with a central creative force of Lias and Nathan Saoudi and Saul Adamczewski, their chaotic live shows soon became the stuff of urban legend, earning the band a fierce cult following.

The Fat Whites’ crude, misanthropic approach was at its strongest on their first two albums, Champagne Holocaust (2013) and Songs for Our Mothers (2016), both of which garnered acclaim from critics and the DIY music community, earning comparisons to The Fall, The Birthday Party, Butthole Surfers and more.

After a typically tumultuous couple of years, the band returned to the studio in 2018, releasing their third LP Serfs Up! early the following year. The album proved their biggest commercial success to date and marked a somewhat cleaner and less confrontational approach.

Now, they are back with a new album, Forgiveness Is Yours; a project steeped in electronics and distorted pop songs, while also including some of their most uncomfortably personal storytelling to date. The album has received rave reviews, particularly for singles ‘Bullet Of Dignity’ and ‘Today You Become Man’.

The context of the record is, of course, one of suffering with founding member Adamczewski once again leaving the band acrimoniously during the recording process – this time supposedly permanently. According to frontman Lias Saoudi, Forgiveness Is Yours

“…is about life as eternal contingency…about no longer suspecting, but knowing that this shit will never get any easier…in fact, it’s about to get a whole lot worse, your body’s going to go into decay and the people you love will slowly start dropping dead around you…but somehow, you’ve smashed enough of your expectations thus far in life, you're sort of fine with it…you accept it.”
