Time is running out to catch one of rap’s most distinctive voices live in Bristol

Detroit-raised and often cited as one of the most influential voices of his generation, Danny Brown is touring the UK next month in support of his sixth studio album.

Danny Brown plays O2 Academy Bristol on Friday 24 May 2024.

His latest record, titled Quaranta, arrived last year and represented his first solo release in over four years. It peaked a big year for the endlessly charismatic, enigmatic artist who also released acclaimed album, Scaring The Hoes, with fellow alternative hip hop heavy hitter, JPEGMAFIA.

An eccentric, idiosyncratic personality who blends his tough upbringing and progressive, experimental leanings, Danny Brown’s success is deeply entwined with internet culture. Drawing on his past of drug dealing and addiction and utilising his razor-sharp, Brown is known for playful and vulgar lyricism.

Brown is a true hip-hop eccentric who, it is said, has the ability to rap over ‘anything’. He emerged in the 2000s as a member of Rese’vor Dogs before turning his hand to solo work, however, any success was stifled due to his unusual style – 50 Cent supposedly refused to sign him because of his fashion sense.

This did not faze him and Brown has gone on to receive widespread acclaim for XXX (2012), Old (2013) and Warp releases Atrocity Exhibition (2016) and uknowwhatimsayin? (2019). Throughout his career, he has collaborated with rap favourites Q-Tip, Kendrick Lamer, Run The Jewels, ASAP Ricky, Eminem, Earl Sweatshirt, The Alchemist and more.

In addition to Bristol, Danny Brown’s Quaranta tour will take him to UK and Irish venues in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and Dublin. The celebrated rapper was previously scheduled to play Bristol in 2020 before it was cancelled so this will be a popular show!
