On Friday 3 May, Bristol Folk Festival 2024 will kick off with a grand opening at Bristol Cathedral with The Breath, a folk duo made up of singer/flautist Ríoghnach Connolly and guitarist Stuart McCallum. Beautifully talented Bristol quintet Hedera will also be playing Bristol Folk House.

Saturday 4 May will see the festival take over St George’s Bristol with sets from acclaimed headliners Ranagri armed with harp, guitar, bouzouki, flute, bodhran and vocals; Chicago-born, Nashville-bassed bluegrass artist Rachel Baiman; and Dusk, who will take the audience on a magical journey through European folk.

Moving into the evening, St George’s will host a headline set from the celebrated BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winners Spiers & Boden as well as distinctive local singer-songwriter Frankie Archer, who utilises synths, samples, earthy fiddle and vocals.

The day programme on Sunday 5 May will once more be based at St George’s and headlined by one of the UK’s most distinctive voices and a true Bristolian legend in Lady Nade. Support comes from Stockport-born accordion virtuoso, clog dancer and composer Heather Ferrier Trio and humorous singer-songwriter Chris Fox.

Sunday evening at St George’s will see a foot-stomping set from South West folk band Sheelanagig, alongside appearances from distinctive 14-piece supergroup Filkin’s Ensemble, and Bristol’s dream folk trio Hands of the Heron, playing a special intimate show in the glass studio.
