Bristol Old Vic announce their Merry “Little” Christmas shows for 2024

The UK’s longest continually running theatre has today announced two massive shows as well as their now legendary New Year’s Eve House Party.

 

This year’s headline show is a bold and breath-taking retelling of the classic tale The Little Mermaid while taking over the Weston Studio will be Little Red (& Other Winter Tales), spinning together some beloved fairytales for the younger theatre lovers. General sale tickets for these shows go on sale next Thursday 2 May.

Running from Thursday 5 December 2024 until Saturday 11 January 2025 is The Little Mermaid. Dive into a magical underwater Kingdom this Christmas with Bristol Old Vic’s bold, breathtaking re-imagining of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale of love, hope and how no one is too small to change the world.

 

Full of joyous original songs, circus, dance and important environmental messages, award-winning writer Sonali Bhattacharyya (The Jungle Book, Arabian Nights) and Bristol’s own Olivier Award-winning director Miranda Cromwell (Death of a Salesman) make a welcome return for Bristol Old Vic’s next extraordinary festive production.

 

From Young Company Director Lisa Gregan and writer in the room Florence Espeut-Nickless, Little Red (& Other Winter Tales) runs at The Weston Studio from Friday 6 December 2024 until Sunday 12 January 2025.

 

“What big eyes you have…all the better to see, my dear.” This Christmas, join Little Red in the deep dark woods for a wonderful tale of music, adventure, and monsters. A story of absent parents, dance-offs and finding the heart of Christmas, this is a cosy show fit for all the family.
