Posted on: 24 Apr 2024

Inviting Bristol to get involved with the arty action, UPFEST PRESENTS have teamed up with local experience curators to present workshops in BS3 throughout the 17-day cultural programme.

UPFEST PRESENTS will run across BS3 from Saturday 18 May to Sunday 2 June 2024.

The world-famous street art celebration is uniting with Yuup to run various free-to-attend creative workshops for over 1,000 participants, alongside already announced mural painting programme. From spray painting to pottery classes to arts and crafts for the whole family, there’s something for everyone – and it’s completely FREE!

Workshops will range from ‘can art’ with Rose Popay to drama sessions with Acting Out, Posca paint-pen workshops to the festival’s signature doodle wall, in addition to artist panels, tours, open art sessions and more. Bristol street art icon Andy Council will also be leading his all-ages ‘Dino Drawing’ workshops on 25 and 26 May!

Also in attendance will be Alix Smith of Tape Art Projects, supported by the original ‘washi’ tape from Japan, mt Masking Tape. He will lead tape art design sessions as well as public installations at Tobacco Factory, where visitors can drop in and make their own mark.

All these FREE workshops will take place across various venues throughout Southville and Bedminster. With the full extent of the festival programme available in the near future, UPFEST PRESENTS attendees will have the opportunity to explore every inch of BS3 through creativity.

Steve Hayles (UPFEST PRESENTS co-founder) has said of the announcement: “We’re grateful to have Yuup come on board and partner with us to help manage this huge series of over 100 workshops which have been made possible and free with financial support from Arts Council England.

“When it comes to creativity and art, Yuup’s values align perfectly with ours and they know the city and the communities that make it so great. With the celebrations taking place over three weekends and the days in between, including the May half-term, we have no doubt that everyone will find their new superpower, and leave UPFEST PRESENTS with a new skill, passion or great memory.

“It’s been a massive community effort to bring this all together, and working with volunteers and Yuup has allowed us to provide independent creatives a huge platform to share their skills.”

UPFEST PRESENTS will run across BS3 from Saturday 18 May to Sunday 2 June 2024. Find out more from the UPFEST website.
