UB40 ft. Ali Campbell, the version of classic reggae band led by founding member and long-time singer Ali Campbell, are coming to Bristol’s Lloyds Amphitheatre this August – and tickets are on sale tomorrow.

UB40 are one of the legends of pop-reggae. Hailing from Birmingham in the late 70s, the band are blessed with a longevity not often seen in projects of similar renown. Perhaps best known for their singles “Red, Red Wine”, and their debut “Food For Thought”, UB40 have also seem acclaim for their covers of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis and “I Got You Babe” by Sonny & Cher.

In 2008, after 29 years of UB40, Ali Campbell, one of three original founding members of the band, and the vocalist for the last 29 years, left the band due to management and business disputes. Quickly followed keyboardist Mickey Virtue and percussionist/vocalist Astro, the three went on form their own version of the band.

UB40 ft. Ali, Astro and Mickey saw a lot of success after their inception, releasing three new albums together and reaching no.2 in the UK charts. Sadly, Virtue has since left the project – and Astro passed away in November 2021.

Irrepressible in his energy and enthusiasm for UB40, however, Campbell has continued as UB40 ft. Ali Campbell – and is now bringing his sunshine energy to Bristol’s Lloyds Amphitheatre thisAugust, Friday 2. It’s the perfect setting for a reggae gig – a large, waterfront stage sitting outdoor in the summer evening heat. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to spot some stars – both in the sky and on the stage!

UB40 ft. Ali Campbell is coming to Bristol’s Lloyds Amphitheatre on Friday 2 August for an evening performance. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, April 18. For yours, head here.
