The acclaimed and award-winning Scottish comedian Marjolein Robertson is coming to Bristol’s Alma Tavern early next month, Saturday 11 May – with tickets on sale now.

After a successful sold-out Edinburgh Fringe run as one of the top reviewed comedy shows and being shortlisted by both the (ISH) Fringe Awards for 'Best Show' and the Neurodivergent Review Awards for 'Best ADHD Show' Marj comes to The Alma Theatre. Scottish comedian, Marjolein, who hails from the tiny island of Shetland brings an hour of surreal stand-up, a Shetland folktale and blah blah blah, the treasure is buried under Bristol Temple Meads. Hurry. Before it dies.

Comedy aficionados will already be familiar with the quickly-rising Robertson, whose show has been described “a phenomenal 60 minutes of accomplished stand-up with an important message to share” by The List, with One4Review praising the comedian personally, saying “Remember the name. This is a star in the making.”, with both publications awarding Robertson’s show five stars.

In September 2022, she won in the Scots Speaker of the Year category at the Scots Leid Awards. The following month she reached the final of the BBC New Comedy Awards after winning the regional Scottish heat, and also won the Fictus Gratlatio award from the Brotherhood of Comedians. Later in the year she was also award second place in the final of the Funny Women awards.

The Alma Tavern is a beloved Clifton venue that contains a famous pub (serving meals as well as drinks), and five luxury en suite rooms that visitors can stay in. Of course, the crown jewel of the Alma Tavern & Theatre sits at the end of its name – the theatre! An intimate, 50-seat theatre, the Alma is the perfect space to witness Marjolein Robertson’s comedic stylings.
