This light-hearted romantic comedy focuses on Ella and Nathan, a young couple in love, and about to be married. Nathan stands Ella up at the altar after a family secret is revealed, and confusion and misunderstanding ensues. Ella's family decides that although the wedding is off, the honeymoon is definitely on, and they all set off to Turkey for some fun in the sun. Nathan, regretting his decision, follows suit with the hope of winning Ella back.

It’s an upbeat and light-hearted show, with the heart-warming feel-good vibes associated with the likes of Mamma Mia and Shirley Valentine. Whilst the plot is a little weak, with a few too many unnecessary and unresolved details (such as the family member with the gambling problem), I enjoyed the performance and left the theatre feeling warm and fuzzy.

The show is littered with witty quips and laugh out loud one-liners. It's fun, cheesy, and camp, with hilarious performances by Jamie Chapman as Spencer, the holiday resort host, and Scott Paige as Michael. Ella (Lucie-Mae Summer) is sweet and vulnerable, and by the end of the performance is transformed into someone powerful and sassy, by the fairy godmother in the mirror, Kylie, who encourages her to be strong, beautiful, and fabulous.

The musical score is uplifting, with classic anthems and pop tracks, featuring hits originally from the likes of Jason Donovan, Sonia, Kylie, Rick Astley and Bananarama. The production showcases 10 No.1 hit singles and over 30 iconic songs from the SAW Hit Factory's reign through the 80's and 90's: songs such as ‘Especially For You’, ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’, ‘I Should Be So Lucky’, ‘You Spin Me Round’ and many other banging hits.

The creative production team is led by Debbie Isitt (director and writer of the hit Nativity! franchise) and Jason Gilkison (creative director for Strictly Come Dancing). The choreography and dance routines are high energy, dazzling, and glittering performances, and the standing, singing, and dancing encore will ensure that you leave full of joy.

I Should Be So Lucky is a fluffy, heartwarming, romantic comedy. It's about family, friends, love, holiday vibes and great times. This lively and playful musical romp is a pink, sequinned, heart-shaped gift of the SAW Hit Factory's biggest hits all tied up with the big glittery bow that is Kylie! Let loose your inner Diva!
