This wonderful production of the legendary childhood story The Sleeping Beauty is sure to prove an enchanting experience for the whole family.

 

Birmingham Royal Ballet’s The Sleeping Beauty runs at The Bristol Hippodrome from Thursday 18 until Saturday 20 April 2024.

 

Cursed by an evil fairy, a beautiful princess pricks her finger and falls into a deep sleep that only true love’s kiss can break! Birmingham Royal Ballet’s beautiful adaptation was created by Sir Peter Wright, the genius behind the Company’s famous The Nutcracker and Swan Lake.

The Sleeping Beauty is a tale that has been delighting audiences for well over one hundred years and, sprinkling some ballet magic on this classic children’s story and its cast of familiar characters.

 

Expect a production all wrapped up with sparkling virtuoso dance from the Birmingham Royal Ballet’s brilliant roster of dancers, fairy tale characters, dazzling spectacle and Tchaikovsky’s glorious music played live by the renowned Royal Ballet Sinfonia.

 

Completed in 1889 and premiering in St. Petersberg the following, The Sleeping Beauty is a three-act ballet set to Tchaikovsky’s legendary score. Based on the Brothers Grimm’s take on the story, it has become a ballet favourite performed all over the world.
