The Anglo-American duo - who play Bristol in May – have recently released new single, ‘Crystal Blue’, alongside a visual dream from video director, Lucy Dyson.

Still Corners will play Bristol’s Strange Brew on Tuesday 7 May 2024.

Taken from their upcoming sixth studio album Dream Talk, this is a torch song about two lovers separated by the sea and dreaming of reuniting. This sense of yearning is brought to life by Lucy Dyson, who masterfully combines Super 8 footage of the band in the sun-drenched Mediterranean with illustrations and visual effects, luring the listener in.

Still Corners is a duo made up of Tessa Murray and Greg Hughes who formed after a chance meeting at a London train stop back in 2009. In the 15 years since, the outfit have earned critical acclaim and commercial success through dream pop releases such as Strange Pleasures (2013) and The Last Exit (2021).

‘Crystal Blue’ blends a crystal-clear guitar solo soft drumbeat, congas, and a solitary marimba patter, while Tessa Murray asks: “Do fishes sleep, in the ocean blue? Do you dream of me like I dream of you?”.  The result of this is a surreal listening experience that puts the listener into a Brian Eno-esque trance-like state.

The album itself is the product of multiple locations, including East Sussex, France and Woodstock, New York with Murray saying: “The songs came together quickly, and being able to write from anywhere kept up our momentum.”

Experimentation was also a key feature of the record, and the producer, Greg Hughes has said: “We tried various things like different mics, amps and effects before committing to anything. Everything was mixed analogue through our new SSL console, there’s a gleam to the sound.”

In addition to Bristol, the UK leg of Still Corners’ Dream Talk will also see them play shows at Brighton’s Chalk, Manchester’s Band On The Wall and London’s Islington Assembly Hall.
