Just a month until an indie punk extravaganza takes over Old Market

Just a month until an indie punk extravaganza takes over Old Market

Outer Town, one of Bristol's most fiercely independent multi-venue festivals, is nearly back – with a huge expansion.

Outer Town is one of Bristol’s best independent multi-venue festivals, and a real celebration of Old Market’s venue scene, as well as the near-mythical wellspring of fantastic talent that Bristol constantly produces, and it's just a month away, with the festival taking place on 13 April.

As mentioned – the main focus of Outer Town’s line-up is showcasing the powerful, raw talent and energy in the fresh-faced bands of Bristol, describing the festival as a chance to “discover garden-fresh, unprocessed, up & coming talent from Bristol and further afield.”

The other side of Outer Town is the locale – whilst it may not be the only indie multi-genre festival in Bristol, it is the only one in Old Market; a criminally underrated part of the city home to a bevvy of great venues.

Outer Town is hosted by some seriously good venues, from community-owned not-for-profit punk haven Exchange, to idiosyncratic Americana pub The Ill Repute. Other venues include Old Market Assembly, Stag & Hounds, Elmers Arms, & Moor Beer.

This year, however, Outer Town are staging a huge expansion – with a brand new festival hub and stage at Trinity Centre, as well as vegan street food, the return of the DIY Creatives Market, and an afterparty with a DJ set from Tokky Horror.

It’s a powerful line-up, too. There are some big local names headlining the festival; shamanic post-punks Snapped Ankles will be bringing their ghillie-suited eclectic sound to OT, and Danny Nedelko’s IDLES-inspiring noise-rock outfit Heavy Lungs will also be in attendance.

Beyond that, Outer Town will see visits from English-Bahranian psych-rockers Flamingods, genre-defying duo Getdown Services, didactic six-piece DEADLETTER, and Ian Dury & the Blockheads for the modern age, workfriends.

Outer Town takes place on Saturday 13 April. For more information on the line-up of Outer Town festival, click here. To get your tickets for the festival, head to their website.
