Avon Valley’s Easter event to feature candy cannon, live lambing...and the Grinch?!

Avon Valley Wildlife Park are throwing a two-week Easter EGGStravaganza to bring in spring, featuring a UK-first, live lambs – and a rather incongruous guest…

This Easter, Avon Valley Wildlife Park are going truly all out – hosting what they’re calling their Easter EGGStravaganza, and it sounds like cracking good fun.

Perhaps most excitingly, the Avon Valley EGGStravaganza will play host to the UK’s first-ever ‘candy cannon’. The 1.2m-long cannon will be loaded up with sweet treats, before firing them high up into the air – ready to rain down on guests who will have the chance to catch them! It’s a sugary EGGstravaganza spectacle!

An AV Easter favourite will also be returning for 2024 – the Maternity Ewe-nit. Throughout the two-week EGGstravaganza, there will be daily live lambing as the lambs are born.

Avon Valley’s shepherds will be on the scene, teaching visitors about lambs and the lambing process – as well performing live bottle feeding demonstrations. If you get lucky, you might get to meet the expectant ovine mothers – and even potentially see a live birth.

Of course, what would the pagan celebration of Ostara be without that most delicious of springtime signifiers – eggs! Avon Valley are so eggstatic about these oval ovums that they’re actually hosting two different egg hunts!

The first, taking place daily over the Easter Weekend, is for all ages – hunting for the elusive and mysterious Golden Egg. The second will be an adults-only affair, setting the stage for the young at heart to come together after dark, hunting through Avon Valley for 2,500 eggs – with plenty of prizes up for grabs for the most successful.

Avon Valley will also be launching their first-ever Easter show this year – featuring a very special guest in the form of the Easter Bunny. Appearing alongside the bunny, however, is a very unusual – and malevolent – guest. The Grinch (best known for stealing Christmas) will also be in attendance; hopped-up and confident after conquering Christmas, he’s going after Easter this time!

Avon Valley’s Easter EGGStravaganza will be run from Friday 29 March to Sunday 14 April, between 10:30am and 5:30pm. Tickets for the event, and more information, can be found on Avon Valley’s website.
