Life on Our Planet in Concert comes to Bristol Beacon’s Beacon Hall on Wednesday 2 October 2024.
Brought to life by the Welsh National Opera orchestra, this truly unique event is sure to attract natural music buffs, music buffs and fans of the series alike with beautiful renditions of its stunning score as well as highlights from the show’s extraordinary blend of live footage videography and CGI.

Life On Our Planet is an acclaimed new eight-part Netflix series created by Silverback Films in association with legendary director Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television. Narrated by Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman, this is the tale of life’s epic battle to conquer and survive on planet Earth.
Scenes from the series will be accompanied by the Welsh National Opera orchestra playing the score. You will be able to see the story of life unfold through its most pivotal moments; whether that be the first single-celled life form, the first animal to move out from the sea and onto land, or the first creature to take flight.
Today, there a 20 million species on our planet, but this is just a snapshot in time – 99% of earth’s inhabitants are lost in our deep past. The series is organised around five mass extinction events – plus the sixth that we’re facing today – bringing creatures we only know from fossils to life in dramatic, photo-real fashion.
The ground-breaking series places stunning scenes alongside cutting-edge natural history to showcase the unique evolutionary advantages that modern species have developed from their ancestors in ways never before seen.
The Welsh National Opera orchestra is a world-class ensemble, involved in distinguished national events such as the Welsh Proms as well as being a well-established concert programme throughout Wales and beyond.
