Say ‘cheers’ to a buzzworthy cause with new Sheppy’s Cider and Buglife partnership

Posted on: 21 Feb 2024

One of the UK’s oldest cider makers, Sheppy’s Cider, have partnered with Buglife, a UK charity committed to the conservation of bugs and their natural habitats.

With the partnership running for the best part of a month already, cider heads can sip and support Buglife’s insect rehabilitation mission by heading to selected stores to purchase a limited-edition bottle of Sheppy’s 200, with a portion of all sales donated to the charity.

Bottles can be found at selected Tesco and Waitrose stores or online through Ocado or the Sheppy’s website.

Sheppy 200 is the brand’s heritage cider, celebrating Sheppy’s 200-year-long history of cider making. This new limited-edition bottle is specially created to mark the partnership and features the Buglife logo and a QR code, offering cider drinkers a bug’s eye view into the world of insect conservation.

Bugs have various jobs, from pollinating crops and creating wildflower wonderlands, to building new habitats and maintaining apple orchards. The services these insects provide to the earth are vital, but the actions of humans have jeopardised these creatures.

That’s why Sheppy’s and Buglife have created a hive of excitement, making every bottle of Sheppy’s 200 a toast to Buglife’s various projects aiming to prevent and fix the damage made by humans, including building B-lines across the UK to link wildlife areas together. Sheppy’s Cider Farm in Somerset are also running fundraising activities throughout the year.

On the collaboration Paul Hetherington (a Director at Buglife) has said: “Cider orchards provide habitats for a huge range of wildlife and are an important part of the ecosystem, which is why we’re excited to be partnering with Sheppy’s Cider.

“Our mission to restore vital habitats and rebuild strong populations of invertebrates in the UK will be ever more possible with the support of Sheppy’s and we’re looking forward to bringing cider fans along the journey with us to create more valuable hotspots for biodiversity.”

Raise a glass to bug-filled biodiversity with Sheppy’s 200 and enjoy the flavoursome medium cider made with homegrown apples, whilst also supporting Buglife’s vital efforts. Join the Buzz and find out more, HERE.
