You know the Suspension Bridge but not like this! Did you know that the Leigh Woods Tower is built atop 12 massive vaults? These eye-opening tours will unearth these secrets with an exciting trip through the vaults alongside a White Badge Certified Learning Facilitator.

On the ‘Underground Vaults Visit – Relaxed, Interactive, Educational’, visitors will put on their hard hats, climb down the ladder, and use an illustrated map to explore two of the unique, cavernous chambers. There will be plenty of time to take photos and ask questions along the way – a special day out for all the family (ages 7+)!

The ‘One Hour Hard Hat Tour – Fully Guided, Historical In-Depth’ (ages 7+) will see visitors joined by knowledgeable volunteer guides through two of Brunel’s twelve vaulted chambers. Learn about the construction of the legendary bridge and some of the vaults’ most interesting features – including why it took until 2002 for them to be rediscovered.

If you’re looking for a more in-depth history lesson, the ‘Two Hour Hard Hat Tour – Fully Guided, Comprehensive, Over and Underground’ is the option for you. The tour will begin at the Clifton Toll Booth before crossing the bridge to the Visitor Centre where you will don a hard hat and descend the ladder for a comprehensive guide to the famous site.

The ‘Underground Lantern Tour – Fully Guided, Atmospheric, Immersive’ will see visitors guided by the flickering light of a Victorian-style lantern, revealing the secrets of this architectural marvel. Imagine yourself in the boots of Brunel and his labourers who made this engineering feat a reality!

Finally, the ‘Weekend Bridge Tour’ – which is available to all ages – will talk you through the history, construction and maintenance of the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge. Lasting between 45 minutes and an hour, volunteer tour guides will give you an overview of the bridge’s history, construction and maintenance.
