Europe’s largest street art festival Upfest announce expanded return this year!

Posted on: 16 Feb 2024

Returning, but not as you know it, Upfest Presents 2024 will feature a mammoth 18 day cultural programme, supported by Arts Council England.

Upfest Presents will run across Bedminster, South Bristol from Saturday 18 May until Sunday 2 June 2024.

Taking over from the previous weekend structure, Upfest 2024 will see a plethora of stunning artworks being painted across two weeks, with free-to-attend workshops, live painting, artist talks, arts activities, panel discussions, theatre, comedy and tours taking place across multiple venues across BS3.

A range of talented artists will be invited to paint large scale murals on buildings throughout Bedminster, with a schedule available for visitors to check out their progress. There will also be mini paint jams, talks and panel discussions about the work for visitors and artists alike at curated events all over BS3.

There are more than 100 artist spots this year with registration now open to paint the walls of Bedminster or mentor, showcase artwork, live paint as well as collaboration opportunities. Applications will be accepted until Sunday 25 February via the registration page.

The Upfest Presents Crowdfunder is now up and running with the target of raising £10,000 to support all the amazing activities. The more money raised, the more special events and activities can be added to the programme – donate here. Speaking about the long-awaited return of Upfest, co-founder Stephen Hayles has said:

“Upfest Presents represents a new incarnation for the festival this year, more focused on programming the mural creation with a huge spectrum of other activities across a two-week period. This means we won’t have a festival in the park but means we can spread the joy of Upfest across 17 days including three weekends.

“There will be tons for artists, art lovers and families to get involved in, while you can pop down and see a mural being created throughout the whole period. Huge thanks to Arts Council England for giving us the opportunity to create the event and we’re looking forward to supporting local artists as well as welcoming artists from all over the world to Bristol”

Upfest Presents will run across Bedminster, South Bristol from Saturday 18 May until Sunday 2 June 2024. Find out more from the festival’s website.
