Returning to The Bristol Hippodrome for a month-long run in 2024, Wicked is one of the most successful musicals of all time and has been seen by 65 million theatre lovers worldwide.

 

Wicked runs at The Bristol Hippodrome from Tuesday 23 January to Sunday 25 February 2024.

 

With a star-studded cast and a widely acclaimed songbook, musical fans can now take a glimpse behind the scenes with Mark Senior’s rehearsal photography of the 2023-2025 tour cast. The West End and Broadway musical phenomenon tells the incredible untold story of the Witches of Oz and is now in its 18th year at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre.

Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman’s acclaimed musical, based on the novel by Gregory Maguire imagines the beguiling backstory and future possibilities of the lives of the beloved characters from L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

 

Wicked tells the tale of a profound friendship between two young women who first met at sorcery school: the blonde and immensely popular Glinda and a misunderstood green girl named Elphaba. It is their extraordinary adventures in Oz that sees the pair ultimately fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Goos and the Wicked Witch of the West.

This Tony Award-winning show features songs from multi-Oscar and Grammy Award winner Stephen Schwartz including ‘Defying Gravity’, ‘Popular’ and ‘For Good’. Now, having been lauded by theatre lovers and critics from all over the world, Wicked is being released as a two-part Universal Pictures film – Part 1 out in 2024 and Part 2 in 2025.
