Wake The Tiger are running a city-wide Golden Mushroom Hunt throughout this weekPosted on: 11 Sep 2023
Beginning on Saturday 9 September, the Mushroom Hunt comes from the creative team behind Wake The Tiger and will build up to the sprouting up of magical mycelium in Meridia this autumn.
Wake The Tiger’s Golden Mushroom Hunt will run throughout this week across Bristol.
As part of the week-long hunt, Bristolians will follow daily clues to the whereabouts of hand-crafted golden mushrooms in various iconic locations around the city. Those who find them first on each day will win tickets to the immersive experience as well as prizes from Bristol Fungarium.

A daily (micro)dose of hints will be leaked through Wake The Tiger’s socials with curious residents being sent on a mysterious tour of iconic Bristol sites from Turbo Island to Clifton Suspension Bridge searching for golden mushrooms.
The hunt will culminate in four types of fungi springing up in Meridia from Saturday 16 September, each aligning with one of the four guilds: Earth, Water, Air and Fire. Within this immersive world, natural resources are reduced to just 5% (Earth is down to 50%).
With so mush-room to grow, these new mushrooms will reveal more about the story of Meridia and the work the state is doing to reverse the changes caused by exploitation of resources. Through this, the Amazement Park are spreading an important message about rewilding and tackling ecological issues, one eerily similar to one we’re facing ourselves.
The four types of fungi taking over Wake The Tiger are The Water Fungus focusing on the benefits of the Oyster Mushroom, The Air Fungus will hero the Lungwort Litchen, The Fire Fungus will represent the Stalked Bonfire Mushroom, and the centrepiece of The Earth Fungus will be the Parrot Waxcap.
With the mushrooms sprouting through the walls of Meridia’s environments, these new fungi will continue to grow and seep into the new year, but to what extent will this end? Find out with a trip to Wake The Tiger from Saturday 16 September 2023.
Wake The Tiger’s Golden Mushroom Hunt will run throughout this week across Bristol’s most iconic sights. For more information, head to the amazement park website.
