Renowned R&B experimentor Tirzah to play intimate Bristol show next week

Posted on: 06 Sep 2023

Courtesy of leftfield party planners Simple Things, experimental singer-songwriter Tirzah is returning to Bristol as part of a run of low key shows supporting her new album, Trip9love..???.

Tirzah will play Bristol’s Strange Brew on Wednesday 13 September 2023.

The Essex native’s most recent album, released today to little publicity, is the follow up to her 2021 sophomore LP, Colourgrade, and is, like that critically acclaimed effort, produced by BAFTA nominated composer and producer Mica Levi. Tirzah’s Strange Brew show comes as part of a very exclusive run of shows – don’t sleep on this one!

Tirzah is the stage name of singer-songwriter Tirzah Mastin, who blends her stripped back, intimate vocals with Mica Levi’s experimental productions to create challenging yet pop-driven songs that draw on UK garage, grime, British R&B and dance pop.

The project first caught the attention of the UK alternative music community with 2013’s underground hit ‘I’m Not Dancing’. Tirzah’s next creation, the 2018 debut album, Devotion, was a raw, lo-fi R&B effort released on Domino Records and featured production from Kwes. as well as Levi.

Colourgrade, their eagerly anticipated sophomore album, came in 2021, bringing in fresh elements of electronic music and rock, once and for all displaying the unique shapeshifting ability of Tirzah and Mica as a musical tour de force – a partnership that has its roots in the Purcell School for Young Musicians in Watford.

In addition to Bristol, Tirzah’s Trip9love..??? tour will see her play intimate shows in London, Manchester and Glasgow before heading abroad for runs in Europe and the US. For more information, visit the artist’s website.
