For four dates across August and September, Bristolians will be able to embark on a relaxing cruise on The Matthew, sailing around Bristol’s historic Floating Harbour.

Fish and Chips Trips with The Matthew will take place on Thursday 31 August, Wednesday 6, Wednesday 13 and Wednesday 27 September 2023.

These trips will set off from Princes Wharf, taking visitors around the wonderful sights of Bristol Harbourside. Throughout the two-hour cruise, passengers will be free to wander around the ship’s deck, taking photos from the brilliant vantage point that The Matthew offers!

Tickets for the cruises can be secured HERE.

On the cruise, visitors will be able to enjoy fresh fish and chips from a local caterer, delivered on the main deck when the historic ship moors up at The Pumphouse Landing (around 45 minutes into the trip) before ending its journey at the Princes Wharf mooring.

A legend of Bristol’s maritime history, the original Matthew made a name for itself in 1497 when the caravel was sailed by Italian navigator and explorer John Cabot from Bristol harbourside to a debated location in Newfoundland, North America on a voyage that was originally supposed to take Cabot and his 18-man crew to Asia.

To celebrate the 500th anniversary of the renowned voyage, a replica was built and moored at Bristol’s historic harbourside before recreating The Matthew’s original journey, being welcomed by Queen Elizabeth II at Bonavista where there is also a second replica. Last year, The Matthew of Bristol celebrated its 25th anniversary.

Fish and Chips Trips with The Matthew will take place on Thursday 31 August, Wednesday 6, Wednesday 13 and Wednesday 27 September 2023.

Tickets for these mouth-watering trips are priced at £33 for adults, £28.50 for seniors, £28.50 for concessions, £28.50 for 5 – 17-year-olds, £11.50 for 0 - 4-year-olds (free without food). Secure your tickets HERE.
