The Hives are back in Bristol following a smash hit appearance earlier this year

Posted on: 11 Aug 2023

Fresh from a massive UK and European tour with Arctic Monkeys (which kicked off with a show at Ashton Gate, BS3), the band are heading on their own run of UK and Ireland shows.

The Hives will drop by O2 Academy Bristol on Tuesday 2 April 2023.

The five piece have today released their brand new album, The Death Of Randy Fitzsimmons, a rousing send off to their mysteriously missing (and definitely not fictional) sixth member. Having received widespread critical acclaim already, The Hives’ Bristol appearance in April is sure to prove one of their famously frenzied showings.

The brand new album is a supercharged collection of head banging tracks with production from Patrik Berger (Robyn, Charli XCX) and engineering from Pelle Gunnerfedlt (Viagra Boys). Accompanying the album is anthemic single ‘Two Kinds of Trouble’ and double drummer video for ‘Rigor Mortis Radio’, featuring Chris Dangerous and Arctic Monkeys’ Matt Helders.

Made up of Chris Dangerous, Vigilante Carlstroem, Nicholaus Arson, Howlin' Pelle, and The Johan And Only, The Hives first exploded around the world a whopping 25 years ago. Since then, they have sold out stadiums and shared stages with everyone from AC/DC to The Rolling Stones.

The group have received various accolades throughout their career with SPIN once dubbing Howlin’ Pelle “the greatest frontman in rock”. Rolling Stones named their sophomore album Veni Vidi Vicious amongst their top 100 albums of the decade and smash hit ‘Hate To Say I Told You So’ featured on Pitchfork’s Top 500 Songs of the 2000s.

New album, The Death Of Randy Fitzsimmons, marks a true renaissance for the band and fans attending their 2024 tour may be lucky enough to see Howlin’ Pelle cut his head open once more, although the frontman might not be so thrilled - see below for details.

Their upcoming tour of the UK and Ireland will see them play venues in Leeds, Newcastle, Nottingham, Wolverhampton, Glasgow, Brighton, Cardiff, Manchester, Dublin, Norwich and London.

The Hives will appear at O2 Academy Bristol on Tuesday 2 April 2023 – tickets for the show can be found HERE.
