What's On: June at O2 Academy

Posted on: 02 Jun 2023

As one of the prime destinations for the biggest acts from the UK and abroad, O2 Academy is one of the city's most popular venues for students and Bristolians alike.

Mongolian Hunnu rockers, the biggest Queen tribute in the UK, and psych-rock extravaganzas are all appearing at one of Bristol's biggest music venues next month with an array of music events between Wednesday 7th and Friday 30th May 2023.

Circa Waves | Tuesday 13 June

Long-lasting guitar-focused indie rockers Circa Waves are touring in support of their fifth album – Never Going Under – and to prove that they are indeed one of the UK’s most influential guitar bands right now.

The HU | Wednesday 14 June

Perhaps the most unique and interesting act to come to O2 this month, the HU are a Mongolian rock band who seamlessly blend contemporary rock sounds with traditional Mongolian music in a style they call “hunnu rock” – a reference to a name used for the original Hun empire. Throat singing and thrash guitar? A match made in heaven!

Ocean Alley | Tuesday 20 June

Another member of Australia’s thriving music scene, Ocean Alley consistently produce laid-back psych-funk with a heavy dosage of 70s feeling. Having produced all of their albums entirely independently, they can say with confidence they are truly an indie gem.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra | Wednesday 21 June

A truly prolific set of psych-rockers, Unknown Mortal Orchestra are perhaps a mirror of Ocean Alley, being Kiwi in origin. With four albums under their belt and a fifth, the mysterious and evocative ‘V’, on the way, they’re touring to show off their spirited tunes.

Don’t Stop Queen Now | Friday 30 June

Experience the UK's largest Queen tribute band, "Don't Stop Queen Now." Relive or discover Queen's hits like "Bohemian Rhapsody," "We Are The Champions," and "Don't Stop Me Now." Led by the incredible Michael Spence, seen on ITV as Freddie Mercury, this band honors Queen's legacy with a night of iconic music.
