Full cast announced for Shrek The Musical in Bristol

Everyone’s favourite ogre and his band of fairy tale companions are coming to The Bristol Hippodrome in August played by a star-studded cast of musical theatre favourites.

 

Shrek The Musical runs at The Bristol Hippodrome from Tuesday 22 to Sunday 27 August 2023.

 

Cherece Richards will play the role of Dragon, joining Antony Lawence as Shrek, Joanne Clifton as Fiona, James Gillan as Lord Farquaad and Brandon Lee Sears as Donkey in this brand new, Shrek-tackular production that is sure to paint Bristol green this summer.

Last week, Shrek The Musical announced their full cast line-up with rising star Cherece Richards (Once on This Island, Regent’s Park Theatre) making her debut in a principal role as the Dragon, joining an already announced stellar cast.

 

Shrek will be played by Antony Lawrence has previously appeared as Scar in The Lion King as well as playing roles in Mary Poppins, Matilda The Musical and We Will Rock You. Strictly Come Dancing star Joanna Clifton will play Fiona, following her acclaimed performances in Windfall and The Addams Family.

 

Joining them will be Olivier Award nominee James Gillan (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Wicked, Starlight Express, Taboo!) as Lord Farquaad and Brandon Lee Sears (Dreamgirls, Be More Chill, Motown The Musical and more) as Donkey.

 

Shrek The Musical masterfully re-creates the magical world of the classic DreamWorks film, so leave your troubles Far Far Away and join Shrek and Donkey as they quest to defeat the dragon and save Princess Fiona. Featuring fabulous songs including ‘I’m A Believer’ and ‘Big Bright Beautiful World’, this is a musical extravaganza for all the family.

 

In addition to Bristol, the UK and Ireland tour of Shrek The Musical will drop by theatres in Plymouth, Manchester, Dublin, London, Leicester, Bradford, Cardiff, Blackpool, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Coventry, Sunderland, Liverpool, Southampton, Hull, Cheltenham, Nottingham, Norwich, Belfast, Birmingham and more.
