Bristolians should prepare themselves for three days of maritime magic accompanied by tonnes of local talent when the festival takes over the city’s iconic harbourside this summer.

Bristol Harbour Festival will run at Bristol Harbourside from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 July 2023.

The iconic free family-friendly event of the summer, Bristol Harbourside returns to the city in July with newly imagined entertainment zones, Circus Playground moving to College Green and an inclusive water programme that celebrates the city’s beautiful harbour.

Attracting more than 250,000 visitors each year, Bristol Harbour Festival 2023 will feature a wide range of local talent, world-class circus acts, talented music acts, water-based activities such as cardboard boat races and high-octane jetpack stunts and much more.

Attendees can look forward to big beats, beautiful boats and breathtaking backflips spread over five areas at this summer extravaganza. Cirque Bijou will once more be bringing their tricks and trapeze and there will be widespread children’s entertainment at the Circus Playground, now located at College Green.

The Jelli Shack will take over Millenium Square, offering hill-out beach-bar vibes with an acoustic programme organised by Jelli Records. Featuring Bristol talent galore, the area will also feature dodgems and refreshments – perfect for a hot summer’s day.

Canons Marsh Amphitheatre will also be a hub of summer fun with the ever-popular food court and music from Access Creative College, Ujima Radio and BCFM Radio. There will also be on-the-water entertainment with several activities showcasing maritime magic from jet ski stunts to the iconic Pyrounaut showing off its skills.

The iconic Queen Square will be transformed into the Music Quarter. Curated by Harbour Festival legend Tony Benjamin, this space will kick off the festival on Friday and also bring the brightest talent from Access Creative College as well as established acts.

Speaking about the event, Mayor of Bristol, Marvin Rees has said: “The Harbour Festival is an event for all communities and is an opportunity to showcase the diverse Bristol we’re proud to call home. We look forward to celebrating together and bringing another brilliant free festival to Bristol this Summer.”

Earlier this week, the festival opened its annual Expression of Interest for those wanting to perform and get involved with the festival this year, find out more here. Applications for boat owners and visiting vessels who wish to attend this year’s festival can apply from 17 April 2023 on the Sail Bristol app - find out more here.
