'Comedy Icons' Richard Blackwood and Slim are coming to Bristol this Spring

Two of UK comedy’s real heavyweights are coming to Clifton, Bristol as part of a 5-city tour of the UK, entitled ‘Comedy Icons’.

 

Richard Blackwood and Slim’s massive ‘Comedy Icons’ show visits Redgrave Theatre on Sunday 7 May.

 

The urban comedy scene has no bigger names than these two stars of television, film, theatre and comedy. This is a show not to be missed as Richard Blackwood and Slim celebrate comedy at its pinnacle and laugh the night away with brand-new, never before seen material.

Making a name for himself as a comedian, presenter, rapper and soap star, Richard Blackwood has been a regular fixture on UK TV screens since the mid-1990s when he presented Singled Out UK on Channel 5 and presented his own comedy show – The Richard Blackwood Show.

 

Blackwood went on to become a presenter on the flagship music show Top of the Pops and MTV’s MTV Select with Donna Air. He has also starred in some of the UK’s top soaps, playing the character of Vincent Hubbard on EastEnders between 2015 and 2018 and Felix Westwood in Hollyoaks since 2020.

 

Away from his TV career, Blackwood is also an accomplished musician whose single ‘Mama Who Da Man’ charted at Number Three in the UK Singles Chart. He is also a celebrated stand-up comic known for his hard-hitting, satirical comedy.

Danny ‘Slim’ Gray is a real gem of black British comedy, appealing to all ages, genders, races and nationalities with his amusing and distinctive musings on everyday life. The Londoner has performed with a myriad of comedy legends both in the UK and the US and has won several prestigious awards.

 

His original and versatile style has won over fans all over the world, becoming the first Black British acts to perform at the Hollywood Comedy Store. Slim has also appeared on various UK television shows including Black, British and Funny (Channel 4), The Steph Show (Channel 4) and the Russell Howard Hour (Sky One).
