Famed TV chef Larkin Cen and his team are returning to Woky Ko Queens Road
Posted on: 12 Sep 2022The authentic Chinese restaurant will re-open tomorrow for the first time since the pandemic, offering a 50% discount on the food menu for the first 200 customers through the doors.
Off the back of his sell-out Blue Planet-inspired Great British Menu hot pot pop-up evenings at Queens Road earlier this year, award-winning chef Larkin Cen has revised the popular restaurant's menu to re-introduce traditional, authentic Chinese dishes.
Woky Ko will open its doors for eat-in dining for the first time since 2020 on Tuesday 13 September and customers will be able to sample the chef’s delectable menu, carefully crafted from years of culinary experience in the kitchen. Returning to his role as head chef as well as business owner, Cen will be revelling in his work at the new-look Queens Road venue.
Our goal here at Woky Ko is to introduce people to the true diversity of Chinese cuisine. We are passionate about ensuring all our dishes are heavily influenced by traditional flavours and that you love Chinese cuisine as much as we do. Foodies can book a table for the opening week now from the Woky Ko website with the team offering a staggering 50% off the entire food menu to the first 200 people who book to attend this - the offer extends from Tuesday 13 until Saturday 17 September. Seating just 30 customers in their first-floor dining room, customers should book quickly for a truly intimate dining experience.
Those booked in for lunch or dinner every Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00-14:30 and 17:00-21:30, will be treated to the flavours of the Far East, including unique dishes such as Baozi (classic Hong Kong-style steamed buns) in addition to authentic Sichuan dishes inspired by Cen’s 10/10 Great British Menu Sichuan Hotpot.
Talking about the restaurant, Larkin Cen has said: “What I have created is our finest work to date, something deep-rooted in authenticity and a product of many years of learning the craft that I love as well as cooking dishes that I am incredibly passionate about. I am delighted to be back in the kitchen full-time for the first time since the pandemic and running the hot pot event made me realise how much I missed cooking.

“I am now presenting a menu that brings me tremendous joy and pride. Woky Ko was created for the sole purpose of providing a portal to the culture from which our food originates. I believe that Chinese food is underrepresented in the UK and via Woky Ko I believe I can take our customers on a journey through the cuisine that I love. As a thank you to all of our fans as well as all of those who came to my hot pot event and those who sadly missed out, I am presenting to you our new menu.”
North Street wine bar, KASK, will present a carefully curated list which will offer a wine to pair with every course, thus enhancing the unique flavours on offer.
Woky Ko's full menu can be found on the website, but stand-out dishes include our handmade baozi and satay fish balls. Won tons will also be a menu staple, whilst f Cheung Fun noodle rolls served with fried chicken, braised pork and vegan fried chicken as well as house-made dandan noodle soups are sure to prove popular.
