Lakota to celebrate 30th birthday this weekend with Roni Size, Goldie + more

Posted on: 10 Jun 2022

The iconic Stokes Croft complex is honouring three decades at the forefront of UK club culture.

Lakota hit the big three-o this week, and the venue team are marking the occasion with two huge parties featuring an all-star cast of DJs from across Bristol and beyond.

The club's birthday celebrations will be kicking off tonight (Friday 10 June) with a bumper lineup topped by drum & bass icons Goldie & Randall, before Norman Jay, Roni Size and Deli G arrive in BS2 to headline a huge day party on Sunday 12.

Tickets for two events are still available in limited numbers at the time of writing - find out more and get yours here.

Opened in 1992, Lakota has been a lynchpin of Bristol's - and the UK's - club scene for thirty years, hosting an array of internationally-renowned artists, labels and promoters representing a broad spectrum of genres, sounds and styles.

The venue has had a front-row seat for virtually the entire lifespan of British dance music culture, from the hazy days of the early rave scene right through to the stripped-back, sit-down parties brought about by the pandemic.

As well as showcasing some of the world's top DJs, Lakota has played a pivotal role in nurturing generations of Bristol-based talent, with Eats Everything among an extensive community of DJs who credit the club for giving them a vital platform early in their careers.

Faced with a total loss of income when forced to close during the coronavirus crisis, Lakota became one of very few UK venues to find some success during the pandemic when they opened their hugely popular outdoor space, Lakota Gardens.

This weekend, Lakota will be welcoming a selection of familiar faces through its doors to play two unmissable parties, including Goldie & Randall for a headline b2b set, Norman Jay MBE, Roni Size, Deli G, Mungo's HiFi and more.

The first of two events will take place from 22:00 until late tonight, before a lineup of Bristol legends take over the full Lakota complex from 14:00 to 21:00 on Sunday.

Tickets for both parties are still available in limited numbers - find out more and get yours via the Lakota website, or find the venue on Instagram to follow updates across its 30th birthday celebrations.
