Free Family Nature Party to take place at Bristol Beacon

The event is being organised as part of the Festival of Nature, the UK’s largest celebration of the natural world which is running between Friday 10 and Saturday 18 June.

 

Hosted by Bristol Beacon, Family Nature Party is an all-day event aimed at children under the age of 10.

 

Taking place on Sunday 12 June, the day will feature a range of workshops, storytelling, music, arts and crafts, toddler sessions, games as well as inspiration for kids (and their parents) to interact with and find out more about the natural world.

 

The party will take place at the central Bristol venue from 10:00 till 16:00, with loads of fun organisations and community groups involved. Head to the event page to find out more.

 

 

On Bristol Beacon’s main stage, visitors will be able to join in with music, performances, storytelling and talks. Family favourite Poco Drom will be organising an animal electro dance party, complete with animal songs from slow worms, penguins, cheetahs, badgers and much more.

 

Also taking place on the main stage next Sunday is a Woodland Trust Storytelling Special. The Trust have teamed up with storytelling extraordinaire Michael Loader to tell the story of The Man Who Planted Trees. More special guests are still to be announced.

‘Trymwood Studio’s Fledglings Toddler: Dragonfly Drones’ (10:00 till 10:45) celebrates the existence of dragonflies through song, poetry, storytelling and offers you the chance to zoom home with your own beautiful dragonfly. Suitable for accompanied children aged 0-5.

 

‘Drama Workshop with Hannah-Rose’ (11:00-12:00 and 14:00-15:00) combines stories, games, songs, props and sensory play to create an unforgettable camping adventure. Suitable for children aged 2-6.

 

‘Nature Song Writing Workshop’ (13:00-13-45) sees Hopkins and Oliver lead a songwriting workshop for families. Children can take part in a fun, exciting collaboration, making a brand-new song about the natural world before it is performed on stage at 15:00.

 

‘Forest Bathing: Mother Nature Project Taster Session’ (14:00-16:00) offers a relaxing forest bathing session for caregivers and their babies. Taking place on Brandon Hill (15 minutes from Bristol Beacon), accredited forest bathing practitioners will guide you and your child to connect with nature for a fun and lively 45-minute taster session.
