Love Saves The Day 2022: 5 live sets to watch out for

Posted on: 25 May 2022

One of Bristol's best-loved festivals returns with one of its most ambitious lineups to date...

We're just over a week away from the long-awaited tenth edition of Love Saves The Day, with the festival set to take over Ashton Court for the very first time on Thursday 2 & Friday 3 June.

Having started out in Castle Park before moving into Eastville Park and later hosting a one-off festival on The Downs, Love Saves The Day has found a new home in South Bristol and will, as always, be celebrating in the company of some of the UK's most in-demand artists.

Ahead of the festival's official launch, we've decided to put together two quick guides to five live and DJ sets you can not afford to miss at Love Saves The Day 2022.

Read on for our rundown of five of the biggest and best live sets on the way this year, and get your hands on last-minute tickets here.

Bicep | Main Stage, Day 1

Of course, we had no choice but to kick things off with all-conquering Belfast duo Bicep. The techno heavyweights have changed the game with their mind-blowing live sets in recent years, combining their unique and innovative sound with hugely ambitious visuals and stage setups.

Few names on the global electronic music scene have as much draw as Bicep right now, having released two critically acclaimed albums - their self-titled debut in 2017 and 2021 follow-up Isles - and performed on some of the world's biggest stages.

Smash-hit tracks like 'Glue', 'Aura' and 'Atlas', while perhaps slightly overdone now thanks to their immense popularity, have solidified Bicep as a driving force for contemporary techno. Few can match the grandeur of the pair's stirring, atmospheric productions.

If, by some miracle, you're not already familiar with Bicep, make sure you catch their headline slot on the opening day of Love Saves The Day 2022.

Potter Payper | Main Stage, Day 2

Having first emerged in the early 2010s, London-based rapper Potter Payper is only now starting to gain serious recognition outside of the underground.

Stints in prison have had an undeniable impact on his musical career, but after years of waiting in the wings, the 30-year-old released his major-label debut, Thanks for Waiting, in late 2021 to widespread critical acclaim.

Hit tracks such as 'Gangsteritus' and 'Eastender' (the latter features fellow fast-rising rap star Unknown T) have launched Potter Payper into mainstream consciousness, and his stock looks set to rise even further in the months and years to come.

Potter's journey to the top of the UK rap scene has taken longer than others', but now he's arrived, you can be certain he'll be bringing the energy to his live shows throughout this summer and beyond.

Arlo Parks | Main Stage, Day 2

After winning the Mercury Prize with her 2021 album Collapsed in Sunbeams, Arlo Parks is rightly being regarded as one of the most exciting emerging artists coming out of the UK right now.

Released last January, Parks' intimate full-length debut touches on themes of depression, anxiety, love and sexuality, delivered with an acute air of optimism and the delicate beauty of the 21-year-old's vocals.

Performing at the Love Saves The Day for the very first time in 2022, Parks is certain to provide one of the musical highlights of this year's festival when she takes to the Main Stage on the final day.

CASISDEAD | Main Stage, Day 2

Despite being involved in music for close to 20 years and releasing a number of acclaimed records over the course of his career, there's still a lot we don't know about CASISDEAD.

Keeping his real identity under wraps or, more specifically, under a series of carefully-selected masks, the London-based MC avoids the limelight, letting his witty artistry and innovative visuals do the talking.

Responsible for hits such as 'Pat Earrings', 'All Hallows' and 'Before This', CASISDEAD will arrive at Ashton Court in June armed with a stellar back catalogue, knife-edge lyricism and unmatchable energy.

Grove | Main Stage, Day 2

Taking elements of a broad spectrum of genres without fully belonging to one, Grove’s ambitious mix of sonics and styles has endowed their output with a special sense of urgency, marking them out as one of the most vital voices in Bristol’s leftfield musical community.

Grove's two EP releases - Queer + Black followed by SPICE - in 2021 marked them out as a driving force for the contemporary Bristol sound, catching the attention of Resident Advisor, Mixmag and The Ransom Note among others.

A hometown show on the Love Saves The Day Main Stage should give Grove the perfect opportunity to flex their musical muscles, and further establish themself at the forefront of a new crop of innovative, genre-defying UK artists.

With just a few days to go until Love Saves The Day open the gates to their tenth edition, Thursday, Friday and full weekend tickets are all at final release.

With the festival expected to sell out in advance, we highly recommend you secure your tickets now to avoid disappointment - find out more and get yours here.
