Bristol New Music Festival to return in 2022
Posted on: 17 Feb 2022The festival will be taking place across a selection of established and lesser-known Bristol venues in May.
Organisers have confirmed the return of Bristol New Music festival, inviting a lineup of renowned live acts to perform across the city from Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 May.
Having been unable to go ahead in 2020 due to coronavirus restrictions, the fourth edition of the biennial festival promises an adventurous sonic exploration of the city, spanning tried-and-tested venues as well as a handful of intimate pop-up performance spaces.

Across four days in May, artists from across the UK and around the world will gather in Bristol to showcase commissioned works, concert hall shows, club nights and unique performances in rarely-used spaces.
Alongside some of the city's best-loved arts venues including St George's Bristol, Strange Brew and the Arnolfini, Bristol New Music 2022 will be taking over St Mary Redcliffe Church and Clifton Suspension Bridge Vaults for a series of one-of-a-kind live shows.
First names confirmed for this year's festival include South London musician Mica Levi, Glaswegian trio Still House Plants and Bristol's own Viridian Ensemble.
An impressive roster of international acts features Chicago-based singer, clarinettist and soothsayer Angel Bat David, Berlin-based saxophonist Bendik Giske and Angolan producer Nazar, with the latter performing alongside renowned visual artist Rob Heppell.

Bristol New Music Festival will be showcasing unique works that draw on the atmospheres of their surroundings, with multimedia artist Kelly Jayne Jones set to create a special piece for audiences hidden deep in the vaults of the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
Irish conceptual artist Áine O'Dwyer will also present a bold commission capturing song and instrumentation of time, place and people in Easton.
A full lineup for the festival's 2022 edition is set to land in early March, with a limited number of Early Bird festival passes on sale now.
