Bristol DJs Kahn & October to accompany film screening at The Cube

The respected selectors will be going back-to-back to mark the release of new Boy Harsher audiovisual project, The Runner.

Stokes Croft cinema and arts space The Cube have revealed the latest addition to an expansive film screening taking place next month, with Kahn and DJ October set to take the reigns for a back-to-back set in the venue's bar.

Taking place on Saturday 12 February, the event will feature an exclusive screening of US duo Boy Harsher's new film, The Runner, which is due for release this month alongside their new album of the same name.

Advance tickets are on sale now but are expected to sell out amid high demand - find out more and get yours via Headfirst.

Boy Harsher's fifth release is far from a traditional album. The release is a musical counterpart to a short film written, produced and directed by bandmates Jae Matthews and Augustus Miller, entitled The Runner.

The film is a horror story interlaced with a meta-style 'documentary' about the duo's recording process, accompanied by a soundtrack which balances cinematic instrumentals with pop songs that push the boundaries of their sound.

Both the film and album open with the pulsing synths of recently-released single 'Tower', a heavy soundscape about desire and impending destruction which culminates in Matthews' pleading vocals becoming desperate screams for help.

“We wrote ‘Tower’ several years ago and although it's evolved over the years, its initial intent remains the same - that feeling of being enveloped, suffocated, entrapped in a relationship, which in turn manifests into reckless attack,” Matthews explains.

“What you love the most can make you into a monster. And that's what this song is about, being a paralyzed fiend.”

As part of a multimedia showcase at The Cube, February's screening of The Runner will be accompanied by a lineup of live acts and DJs.

A back-to-back set from Kahn and October remains the only support slot to be announced at the time of writing, with live acts expected to be confirmed in the coming days.
