The shows, organised by the Old Market venue team, will take place in a calm, relaxed environment.

Exchange is just days away from the launch of 'Go Gentle', a brand-new gig series consisting of cosy shows by touring bands and local performers designed to help people enjoy live music in a calmer atmosphere.

Acoustic folk singer/songwriter Ben Marwood will headline the first 'Go Gentle' gig on Saturday 29 January alongside local artist Non Canon who will perform in support.

Tickets for this gig are £9, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Visit Headfirst's website to secure your spot at this inaugural relaxed gig.

Open to everyone, the relaxed format is designed for people with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, sensory or communication disorders, a Learning Disability, those with age-related impairments and parents/carers with babies or young children.

Sound at 'Go Gentle' gigs is adjusted, reducing the volume and any loud effects. Lighting is also altered, with the auditorium remaining dimly lit throughout the gig and any lighting/strobe effects will be slowed down.

The venue's capacity will also be reduced, leaving lots of space for standing attendees and a variety of furniture will be available for those who wish to enjoy the music seated.

Staff will always be on hand to lend support if it is needed and ask that gig-goers respect their peers by being supportive of how they express enjoyment.

In 2021, Gig Buddies, a befriending project pairing people with and without a learning disability together to enjoy gigs launched out of Exchange, also aiming to make live music more inclusive and accessible.
