The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition is back at Bristol's M Shed, featuring more than a hundred powerful photographs telling the story of a natural world under pressure.

The 2021 collection spans everything from curious underwater species to majestic soaring birds, spectacular predators and much more.

Having been restructured as a virtual tour last year due to coronavirus restrictions, the exhibition is once again open to visitors at the popular harbourside museum and art space, running until 5 June 2022.

Now in its 57th year, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition uses the unique power of photography to tell stories, spark conversation and inspire curiosity in the natural world.

This year's competition attracted more than 49,000 entries from around the world - a huge rise from the 361 entrants in its maiden year, 1965.

Images are selected for the exhibition by a panel of international experts, and winning entries are recognised for their creativity, originality and technical excellence.

Having been showcasing the world's most astonishing natural photography for more than fifty years, the Wildlife Photography of the Year exhibition offers visitors the rare chance to get up close and personal with a huge selection of animals.

This year’s winning image, ‘Creation’, was taken by Laurent Ballesta of France and captures the occasional spectacle of camouflage groupers leaving a mating frenzy that takes place once a year under a full moon.

Tickets for the 2022 collection are priced at £7 for adults and £5 for concessions, with under-16s passes available free of charge and a 50% discount on offer for students and attendees aged 16-24.

Head to the M Shed website to find out more, secure your tickets or browse the venue's full 2022 exhibition programme.
