Posted on: 17 Aug 2021

The Carnival team and a group of guest speakers will be exploring the experiences of the Windrush generation.

St Pauls Carnival are preparing for their first-ever Windrush Library event, celebrating the Afro-Caribbean community and discussing the impact of Windrush across three online sessions on Saturday 21 August.

Members of the Carnival team, alongside a selection of special guests, will be looking to build a positive framework for conversations and challenge stereotypes through dialogue and interaction between speakers and audience.

Spaces across each of the sessions are available for free, with pre-registration required. Find out more and reserve your spot here.

Since its beginnings in the late 1960s, St Pauls Carnival has existed to celebrate and shine a light on Afro-Caribbean culture, telling stories and exploring history through music, dance and community.

Following on from their second virtual Carnival back in July, the team have now put together a brand-new event to take online audiences back to its beginnings and tell the stories that led to its inception.

Each free-to-access session taking place as part of the Windrush Library will see three guest speakers take part in a panel discussion before opening things up for viewers to share their own experiences and make connections.

Sessions on the themes of Journey (10:30-12:20), Authenticity (13:00-14:50) and Growth (15:00-16:50) will be taking place on virtual events platform Remo on Saturday 21 August.
