Summer is drawing to a close, so before northern climes descend upon us and keep us inside, why not make the most warmer temperatures and enjoy the outdoors?

 

Bristol has a wealth of green space and activities for you to enjoy, either on your own or with your friends and family.

 

With days getting shorter, school holidays coming to an end and the summer sunshine becoming increasingly elusive, however, there's not much time to make the most of the great outdoors.

Bristol Zoo Gardens | Clifton, Bristol BS8 3HA

 

The fifth oldest zoo in the world, Bristol Zoo Gardens has spent over a century protecting wildlife and habitats whilst providing a space for the whole family to enjoy.

University of Bristol Botanic Garden | The Holmes, Stoke Park Road, Stoke Bishop, Bristol BS9 1JG

 

Plants are millions of years older than humans and are essential to so many aspects of modern life. In the heart of Clifton, discover beautiful displays designed to tell the story of plant evolution.

 

The gardens, containing over 4,500 species of plants, are open seven days a week, but tickets must be booked in advance. Find them here.

Bristol is home to numerous parks, each with a unique identity and a range of things to do. If you fancy playing on a sports pitch or a children's activity area, there are plenty of options. Or why not head to one of the city's grand estates?

St Werburghs Farm, using a two-acre small-holding, a one-acre Community Garden, a 2.5-acre conservation site and 13 acres of community allotments, strives to engage communities through carefully designed projects that aim to educate, build skills and increase well-being.
