Vocalist Lady Nade completes the venue's musical project with 'Bristol is our Playground'.

The Bristol Beacon team have released the sixth and final entry of 'A Song For Bristol', a series launched in 2020 calling on the public to convey their experiences of the past year in Bristol through words and music.

Each track on the 'New Song for Bristol' playlist has come about as a result of a string of collaborations between local artists and members of Bristol communities, and has been premiered across the Beacon's website and social media channels in May and June.

Completing the project, soulful vocalist and songwriter Lady Nade has today (Wednesday 23 June) released 'Bristol is our Playground', which features members of Mini Singers, a children's choir group set up by the Bristol Beacon.

Following the Bristol Beacon's initial callout in November 2020, the 'New Song for Bristol' project received entries from Bristolians of all ages, communities and backgrounds, spanning a huge range of experiences, topics and emotions.

Speaking on the release of her track, Lady Nade said: “I loved writing with the Mini Singers, writing with children is always much fun as the inner critic hasn’t fully come into awareness yet.

“As we tend to get older the inner critic knows exactly what’s needed to trigger your tender inner child’s worst fears of not being good enough, smart enough, or of being too much.

“Taking a trip to outer space was just a great example of what an adult may not have included in a song about Bristol, what’s the relevance?! I love this kind of magic.”

Other tracks featured in 'A New Song For Bristol' include This Is The Kit's 'Trousers Optional', 'Revolution' by Javeon, Kwazi, X4 and CVNCH, and 'Only For Now' by Kayla Painter and members of the Bristol Beacon's accessible music-making club, FLOW Creative.

'When Music Says A Thousand Words' saw composer Lloyd Coleman showcase the talents of the Bristol Youth Choir, while producer and vocalist Grove called on young people involved in the Hope Creative project to put together his entry, 'Lockdown Riddim'.
