Bristol's iconic Balloon Fiesta tipped for a return in 2021

Posted on: 12 May 2021

Planning is underway for the 2021 edition of the much-loved annual event.

Organisers have announced plans for the return of the world-renowned Bristol International Balloon Fiesta this year, confirming intentions to return in August in line with the UK government's 'roadmap' out of lockdown.

Currently carrying out new research into the possibility of hosting this year's Fiesta, the team are working with up-to-date guidelines to ensure whatever they put together is as close as possible to the annual event Bristolians know and love.

Having been restricted to a virtual 'nightglow' last year due to COVID-related limitations, the Balloon Fiesta is scheduled to make its eagerly-anticipated return from 12-15 August 2021.

Releasing a statement this week regarding their 2021 event, the Bristol Balloon Fiesta team said:

"As restrictions ease in the UK, it was good to see a number of test events taking place over the bank holiday weekend as part of the government’s roadmap out of lockdown, putting smiles on thousands of faces.

"We are carefully monitoring the guidance and regulations and planning to an event as closely aligned to the Fiesta and it’s values as possible.

"Inclusivity is at the forefront of our minds and so we will continue to develop our plans to ensure as many people as possible can enjoy our balloons safely."

Not just an iconic event for the city, this year's Bristol Balloon Fiesta also represents a fantastic opportunity for local traders and suppliers to get back to work and, hopefully, kickstart a period of recovery after such a difficult few months.

Registrations to visit or take part in the 2021 Balloon Fiesta are open now, with details here for visitors, here for traders, caterers and exhibitors, here for sponsors and partners and here for balloon pilots.
