Widely regarded as one of the most exciting bands coming out of the UK right now, IDLES' stock has been constantly on the rise since they emerged in Bristol in the mid-2010s.
Following on from the huge success of their first two albums, Brutalism in 2017 and Joy as an Act of Resistance a year later, IDLES' most recently released their huge third record, Ultra Mono, which reached Number One in the UK Albums Chart.
Despite the album's success, however, the band have been unable to play it live amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, forced to push their sold-out UK tour back to 2022.
Unveiling the event this morning, Team Love co-founder Dave Harvey said: “It’s an amazing feeling to announce the IDLES homecoming show for September this year.
“We have been huge fans of the band for years and have watched them grow from playing very early on the bill in small venues for Simple Things to becoming one of the world’s biggest and most important rock bands.
“There simply isn’t a venue in Bristol now that can hold all the people that would want to see them, so we found an outdoor venue instead!”
The gates on Clifton Down will open a day early this year for a one-off headline show from hometown rockers @idlesband.
