Easton food drive back up and running with new catering oven

The team recently had a brand-new catering oven installed following a successful community fundraising drive.

Easton-based charity Baggator and the team behind food drive project Super Supper Club have been back in the kitchen this week, after they secured the necessary funding to source and install a new catering oven.

Launched in response to the coronavirus crisis, Super Supper Club gather surplus food from local supermarkets before sorting it, prepping it and cooking it into delicious, nutritious meals for the local community.

The project appeared to be in trouble when their only catering oven packed in over the Christmas period, but thanks to the hard work of the volunteer team and the generosity of local businesses and members of the public, Super Supper Club hasn't missed a meal.

Baggator's Super Supper Club is back up and running.

Thanks to the perserverance of Rachel Hodgson working in collaboration with Stuart Phelps at Baggator, the Super Supper Club team are back cooking on gas once again.

After their old oven finally admitted defeat in December, those involved with the project reached out to independent law firm Burges Salmon about potentially helping them secure a replacement.

Burges Salmon staff recognised the need for the local community to join forces and support one another, and so dug deep into their own pockets and raised the necessary funds.

With help of a few others - catering supplier Nisbets offered their best-possible discount on the new over and local gas-safe engineer took care of the installation - the new kit was set up and ready to go.

Despite the delays and issues regarding the missing oven, Super Supper Club manager Rachel Hodgson incredibly never missed a beat, and was able to continue providing meals and weekly food supplies without full use of her kitchen.

Now back up and running, Rachel and the team are on the lookout for any support from the community, from monetary or food donations to volunteers for a number of roles.
