Meet the Bristol Brewers: Moor Beer

Posted on: 08 Feb 2021

Loved from Bristol to London and beyond, Moor Beer is undoubtedly one of the UK's very best breweries.

Bristol is home to a growing crop of dedicated, creative and fiercely independent breweries in 2021, each offering their own mix of tried-and-tested classics and innovative new flavour combinations.

From the city's extensive selection of craft pubs, taprooms and pop-ups to the huge buzz around the annual Craft Beer Festival, it's no secret that Bristol loves its beer, making it the perfect home to breweries of all shapes and sizes.

In the latest edition of our Meet the Bristol Brewers series, we get to know Moor Beer, home to an extensive range of top-quality beers and proud operators of hugely popular taprooms in both Bristol and London.

Moor Beer.

Having conquered the pub scene, emerged as a staple refreshment at major events and become a fixture on supermarket shelves nationwide, Moor Beer have hardly put a foot wrong since the business was bought and officially relaunched in Bristol in 2007.

Named after the Levels and Moors area of Somerset where the brewery originated, Moor Beer opened its first Tap Room in Bristol in 2014, later setting up shop on London's Bermondsey Beer Mile in 2018.

Natural carbonation and the use of live yeast are cornerstones of the Moor Beer brewing process, giving their full range a unique texture and a distinct, satisfying flavour profile.

Combining a traditional German approach with an American-style focus on flavour and the age-old British method of secondary fermentation, the team have produced an array of top-notch beers over the years.

The brewery's unwavering attention to detail and careful sourcing of ingredients has led to numerous international award wins and top ratings, most notably being named Brewer of the Year in 2017 by the British Guild of Beer Writers.

Alongside the usual suspects - IPAs, lagers, stouts etc - Moor Beer stock a range of limited-edition and seasonal beers, experimenting with new ingredients and brewing methods to great effect.

For a limited time, you can get your hands on a case of Moor Smoked Lager or Spirit Lifter kellerbier, both brewed with Bavarian beer halls in mind.

If you're after something more traditional but you're not quite sure what to go for, Moor Beer Mixed Cases are the perfect way to sample some of Moor's best and most popular beers without breaking the bank.

Choose from the standard Fridge Fillers case - featuring the renowned Nor'Hop Ultra Pale Ale, Revival Pale Bitter and original Moor Lager - or the slightly more varied Moor in a Box, which includes Nor'Hop, Revival, the Claudia Wheat Ale, classic Stout, Old Freddy Walker Ale, Benny Havens Barley Wine and barrel-aged Wee Heavy.

Head to the Moor Beer website to browse their full range and place an order, or find them on Twitter to follow news and updates from the brewery in 2021.
