The charity have reached another major milestone with their innovative food delivery service.

Caring in Bristol have officially delivered an incredible 150,000 meals to vulnerable people as part of Cheers Drive, a pioneering delivery service providing free hot meals to homeless people across the city.

Since launching the project last year in response to the coronavirus crisis, the charity have received a wave of support from the local community and worked tirelessly to distribute restaurant-quality meals to people in need.

Amid the ongoing pandemic, the Cheers Drive service is expected to continue well into 2021 - find out more and explore donation and volunteering options here.

Backed by a team of 150 dedicated volunteers, including renowned local chefs from popular establishments including Emmeline, Pasta Loco and Salt and Malt, Cheers Drive has been offering quality, nutritious food to vulnerable people across Bristol since April 2020.

Dishes are delivered safely and directly to the city's homeless population, many of whom are back on the streets having been temporarily provided with accommodation during the first UK lockdown last summer.

As of this week, more than 150,000 meals have been prepared and delivered by the Cheers Drive team, with the project estimated to be providing food for as many as 400 homeless and vulnerable people per day.

Revealing the news across their social media channels, Caring in Bristol Operations Manager, Kat Caldwell, said:

“We’re extremely proud to have passed the milestone of 150,000 meals delivered and would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our amazing staff, volunteers, and suppliers who have made the project a success.

“The ongoing uncertainty creates a lot of anxiety for people. But we have the most amazingly dedicated and resilient volunteers and they’re still there every day, delivering nutritious food to people who need it.

“There is a real sense of hope and optimism for where we’ll be by the Summer.”
