Trinity Centre unveil new virtual events programme for lockdown

Posted on: 06 Nov 2020

#TrinityPresents is back with more live music, spoken word, theatre and more.

The Trinity Centre have officially unveiled a programme for the return of #TrinityPresents, an exclusive events series streaming live, for free, throughout lockdown.

With the popular BS2 venue set to remain closed for a minimum of four weeks, the Trinity team are returning to the virtual realm for a second run of #TrinityPresents shows after successfully launching the project back in April.

Expect live musical performances, theatre, poetry and much more as the Trinity Centre do their best to bring some joy to those of you stuck at home in November.

Kicking off this month's #TrinityPresents series will be What Words Are Ours, a BSL interpreted and captioned poetry cabaret featuring live performances from comedians, sign language artists and rising stars of the spoken word scene.

Performed live on Zoom on Thursday 12 November, the event will be hosted by poetry-clown Talia Randall, with an array of special guests set to take part, including multi-talented poet Belinda Zhawi and poet and disability rights champion Stephen Lightbown.

Then, on Tuesday 17 November, writer and spoken word artist Conor A will be performing his popular one-man show, Learning to Swim on an Ironing Board, in which he depicts his experiences living with fibromyalgia.

Trinity's first musical performance of November comes on Thursday 19 as rapper and multi-instrumentalist Dizraeli presents The Unmaster, a story of a mental breakdown told through sound, dance and emotive poetry.

From Monday 23 - Friday 27 November, Artist Tink Flaherty will be posing one very timely question: why is the idea of staying in bed seen as a failure and not an act of self-care?

Commissioned by the Trinity Community Arts and Cambridge Junction as part of an open call for D/deaf and disabled artists, Bed Blogger will see five creators tasked with producing an entirely original piece of work directly from their beds.

Each creative process will be documented, with the results set to be broadcast as part of a new online exhibition experience. Find out more about the project here.

The final performance announced so far, Los Justos, will host a series of live performances created by artists from nine countries, set to be streamed simultaneously in theatres in Spain, Denmark, Greece and the UK.

The creative experiment aims to explore theatre-making during the pandemic in the hope of keeping the live and international aspects of the practice alive. Keep an eye out for more info and dates, to be confirmed in the coming days.
